Among the special effect technologies applied to movie images, he mainly studies 3D graphics and image synthesis using computer and produces works. In particular, he collaborated with special effects production specialists to take part in video special effects in short films or feature films at various international film festivals. Through the exhibition of media art, he has recorded the results of research on digital special effects technology in journals and has been doing various works and research activities. Also, he has published several papers including 'The Story of Special Effects hidden in Movies' and 'A Computer-assisted Learning Model based on the digital game exponential reward system, TOJET, 2011'. He served as a member of the Korea Institute communication satellite Sciences, Evaluation Commissioner and Advisory Member of The Local college. Innovation Competency Enhancement Program of the Ministry of Education, expert member of the National Research Foundation of Korea for culture and Multimedia Contents, Currently, he is a vice chairman of the joint committee of licensing and co-degree in Chinese Ministry of Education and focusing on media art and interactive art using processing language and microprocessor.

Based on analog film and digital cinema, we are researching and developing film production system based on shooting and lighting technology. Based on the research, we are producing films in various formats and styles. Digital Cinema is constantly developing new technologies and workflows, so we are constantly studying the technology and workflow with students and applying them to actual film production work. Today, we are critically conducting technological and aesthetic research and applications on 3D stereoscopic and UHD films that are forming a technological trend, and is studying screening and distribution formats such as DCP.

Through the methodologies such as film research, media research, and contemporary art criticism, he has been working on the aesthetic ontology of film and visual arts and culture in post-cinema era. There is a publication, 『Between Film, Video , and the Digital : Hybrid Moving Images in the Post-media Age 』 (Bloomsbury, 2018/2016), and there are translations of "Voyage on the North Sea" (2017), "Gilles Deleuze's Time Machine" (2005), and he was responsible for the supervision and release of Hito Steyerl's "The Wretched of the Screen" revision (2018). He has published several papers(Global Art Cinema (Oxford University Press, 2010), Taking Place: Location and the Moving Image (University of Minnesota Press, 2011)) to journals(Screen, Cinema Journal, Film Quarterly, Millennium Film Journal, Animation: An Interdisciplinary Journal, Camera Obscura) and on experimental films and video, gallery installation, digital film and art, contemporary film theory and media research. He has contributed criticisms to popular journals such as "Cine 21" and "Art in Culture" and numerous exhibition catalogs. He is currently working on two books, "Documentary's Expanded Fields: New Media, New Platforms, and the Documentary" and "Post-vérité Turns: Korean Independent Documentary in the 21st Century and teaching subjects such as 'Comparative Study of Visual Media', 'Digital Media Research', 'Experimental Film and Video Art', 'Understanding Film Theory'
